Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency

As part of the Department of Health, the MHRA enhance and safeguard the health of the public by ensuring that medicines and medical devices work and are acceptably safe.

In 2005, the MHRA and Accenture began a project to rebuild and redesign the MHRA.gov.uk website. The key objectives were to present a single face to the previously separate Devices and Medicines agencies, and deliver their wide range of content in an effective and accessible way.

The MHRA and Accenture chose Bright Interactive as the design partner for the new website.

We worked closely with MHRA to develop the new page structure and design, initially in workshops with page wireframes and sitemaps, then with a branding agency to develop a clean, accessible site design.

After approval we built HTML and CSS to the required accessibiltiy standards and worked with the RNIB to achieve their See it Right standard. Finally the resulting templates were handed over to Accenture for CMS build.

Our more recent work with MHRA has included redesign and accessibility work on their Incident Reporting tools, plus ongoing design and usability improvements to the main MHRA.gov.uk website.
