Content Management
The term Content Management System (CMS) is used to refer to any software that is used to change the content of a website. This broad definition is one of the reasons there is so much confusion surrounding Content Management, and explains why there are so many different products and choices available.
Almost all of the websites that are built today integrate with some kind of CMS, ranging from the commercial, enterprise-scale products (e.g. Interwoven, Rhythmyx, Documentum, Gauss) through open-source frameworks (e.g. OpenCMS) to custom built solutions.
